Hilton Durban welcomes new exec chef

Hilton Durban has welcomed David Goette to its hospitality team as the hotel’s new executive chef.

With over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry, Goette joins the team at Hilton Durban following the departure of Herbert Thierse, who now resides in Johannesburg working with the culinary team at Hilton Sandton.

Goette has worked at several hotel restaurants and he joins the Hilton Durban from The Fairmont Zimbali Resort where he held the position of executive sous chef. Goette, who is an American citizen, has extensive experience in the hospitality industry having worked at various five-star establishments in the USA and South Africa. Prior to his arrival in Durban, Goette owned and managed his own boutique hotel in Cape Town.

Goette graduated with a culinary Ddgree from the California Culinary Academy in 1998. He is fluent in four languages including French, Swahili, English and Afrikaans and has various certifications in nutrition, confectionary, hand carving and Eastern cooking.
