Making Memories at the Oosterland Youth Centre
Giving back to the community is an important element of Scooters Pizza’s business principles. The group, part of Taste Holdings, showed its generosity and support for the Oosterland Youth Centre by hosting a movie night.
Making Memories is a non-profit organisation which aims to give underprivileged children the happy childhood memories they deserve, but so often lack due to their circumstances. Their main objective is to provide community services in particular to abused, neglected and/or orphaned children by creating memorable experiences and in so doing enriching their lives with hope, strength and joy.
Making Memories recently reached out to the Oosterland Youth Centre, a children's home located in Despatch, Eastern Cape, which currently accommodates 120 children ranging from birth to 18 years old, placed in its care by the Children’s Court.
Their motto is Turning little moments into big memories” and this time they hosted a movie, pizza and games night, with Scooters Pizza donating pizzas to the children.
“It was an amazing night filled with lots of laughter and giggles. It was a great opportunity to work with Scooters Pizza and so rewarding to make some very special memories for the kids,” says Desiré Lange, founder and project leader of Making Memories.
CEO of Taste Holdings’ food division and quick service restaurant veteran, Christo Calitz, says that the initiative complements Scooters Pizza’s corporate social investment goals.
“We are proud to be associated with this project and encourage the community to reach and help where they can because everyone can make a difference, especially to those in need,” says Calitz.
