Epson reconnects with its PoS resellers

While Epson is a strong player in the local – and international – point of sale (PoS) market, the organisation has traditionally been quiet on this front when it came to new product announcements and other channel communications in South Africa.
This is according to Kelvin Reynolds, general manager for Epson Southern Africa, who recently broke the company’s silence with a new campaign that rolled out to its PoS distributors and resellers – called It’s about Time – to launch the Epson TM-T88V PoS printer range.
“The focus on our campaign was time,” Reynolds says. “There is no business out there that will admit to making use of technology that doesn’t improve its efficiency and speed of doing business.
“To this extent, the It’s about Time campaign covers two equally important interpretations – the first being speed at which Epson’s new TM-T88V does its job, and the second being that it’s about time that there is a product out there that can under-promise and over-deliver.”
This campaign forms part of Epson’s ongoing initiative to improve the integrity of its channel in Southern Africa, by strengthening with partners that specialise in various industry segments.
“Epson is pouring investment into ensuring that its channel is as strong as ever and that it is able to meet the demands of users across a wide variety of industry sectors for the years to come,” Reynolds says.
“Epson is in the process of updating its business models, modernising its rebate schemes and adding a number of benefits to its existing channel programmes.”
PoS product offerings will be an increased focus for Epson into 2011/12 and, to this end, campaigns such as It’s about Time aim to strengthen the company’s brand awareness both in South and Southern Africa.
As part of the campaign, resellers where directed to log onto www.itsaboutime.co.za where, after entering their details, they stood a chance to win a projector & home theatre system with installation to the value of R40,000.
This was won by Mr. Len Venter from CEB Maintenance.
“As an organisation that provides some of the industry’s most reliable and widely-used PoS products, Epson remains wholly committed to the South African PoS market,” Reynolds says.
“We will continue to work closely with our channel to ensure that we provide the necessary products, training and support that will satisfy our resellers’ customers’ appetite for Epson products and services – and on that note, to keep the ball rolling, the next phase of the It’s about time competition will be launching very soon,” he concludes.
