The first retail store to open in Brooklyn, New York in 1976 started with only three flavours – vanilla, chocolate and coffee – it has since expanded and now has franchises throughout the US as well as worldwide, totalling 900 shops in 50 countries, including South Africa.
Together with the opening of the new shop, Häagen-Dazs introduced their latest flavour, Coconut Truffle, in time for summer.
Becky Opdyke, commercial director for Häagen-Dazs South Africa, says: “We were really happy to have been able to celebrate the opening of the Melrose Arch shop with the launch of such an indulgent new flavour. It was a real treat.”
Surtee adds: “Häagen-Dazs is recognised worldwide for being an innovative and luxurious brand and we look forward to extending this experience to more and more South Africans.”
The new Coconut Truffle flavour will be available at all Häagen-Dazs shops – Sandton City shopping centre, Hyde Park shopping centre and OR Tambo International Airport departure terminal in Johannesburg, as well as the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.
