McDonald’s SA supersizes its charitable work

The PMR.africa awards represent competitiveness, effectiveness, excellence and resilience.
Sechaba Motsieloa, corporate affairs director at McDonald’s SA, says: “McDonald’s is a people business and this extends beyond our staff to the communities in which we work. Throughout the year we get involved in youth and sports initiatives and help local charities because giving back to our communities is an essential part of the way we operate every day. We see great value in the work that we do with our community and are humbled that our efforts have been recognised by those leaders in industry and government who voted for us to win this award.”
Based on the perceptions of the 250 respondents comprising of analysts, CEOs, financial and HR directors, MDs, senior government officials and stockbrokers, McDonald’s SA was rated on the following attributes: BEE; commitment to communities; commitment to employees; corporate governance, employment equity, environmental care; fight against crime; fighting HIV/AIDS; fighting poverty; job creation and training; service excellence and social upliftment.
This award is further recognition of McDonald’s SA’s commitment to excellence. This year, McDonald’s SA has been recognised as the Deloitte’s Best Company to Work For (for the third consecutive year); won the 9th Annual African Access National Business Awards Investing in People category, in addition to being a finalist in the Top Performing Company of the Year category; and was named by Millward Brown as the fourth most valuable brand.
In addition, MD Greg Solomon was named the IPM CEO of the year.
