Steers shows its Soft Side
April 11th, 2012 by Susan Reynard | Categories: beverages, food, industry, restaurantsThe Steers franchised fast food restaurant chain, part of Famous Brands, expanded its sweet menu items with the launch new Soft Side in November 2011. Since then, more than a million South Africans have indulged themselves in the new decadent milkshakes and soft serve ice-creams from this burger-themed restaurant.
Soft Side is the name of Steers’ revamped sweet collection, and comprises Shakes, Swirls (soft serve in a cup with a topping) and Soft Swirls (soft serve in a cone).
Steers has shaken up its shakes by overhauling the recipes for its chocolate and strawberry shakes, and introducing three new flavours – cherry bomb, caramel toffee and vanilla custard. All five shakes are available in 350ml and 500ml sizes, in thick and double thick.
Customers now also have a choice of five soft serve Swirls – Classic Swirls, with either chocolate or strawberry syrup, and the all-new Super Swirls, with their choc mint, caramel fudge and berry white choc toppings.
The ever popular soft serve in a cone – Soft Swirls – are also available in plain vanilla, choc 99, chocolate dipped or caramel dipped.
“Steers has long been renowned as the home of the real burger,” says Steers managing executive, Val Bourdos. “And now our Soft Side offering presents the perfect complement to the real burger – the real milkshake and the real soft serve ice-cream. We’ve improved this offering significantly by introducing new recipes and new flavours and the option to truly indulge in a double thick shake, for the first time ever.”
The launch of the new Soft Side sweet treats follows a series of innovations last year, including a new range of King Steer variants; an even bigger King Steer – the Mighty King Steer; a new range of chicken burger variants; and the relaunch of a real Steers classic, the Hero’s roll, which is now available in three variants.
