McDonald’s has opened a new-look store on the Port Elizabeth beachfront. The new restaurant is said to be “not only a more suave and sophisticated venue that will appeal to a broader audience,” but also has the first McCafé in the region.
Announcing the opening last week, Sechaba Motsieloa, McDonald’s director of corporate affairs, said: “McDonald’s has been in South Africa since 1995 and many of our customers have grown up with us. Today, these customers are looking for a more sophisticated offering and we are delighted to provide them with more choice and more reasons to visit McDonald’s.”
The new store offers McDonald’s customers “an ultra-modern, sophisticated setting.” The McCafé ensures a wider audience will be attracted by a choice of hot and cold beverages and a variety of cakes and snacks.
“We are thrilled that the new-look restaurant and McCafé are now serving our Port Elizabeth customers and are confident that they will enjoy the friendly atmosphere and personable service they have come to expect from McDonald’s – now with more choice and in a new, contemporary setting,” concluded Motsieloa.
A global giant in the foodservice industry, McDonald’s has more than 33 000 locations serving about 68-million customers in 119 countries each day. More than 80% of McDonald’s restaurants worldwide are owned and operated by franchisees – typically independent men and women from the area in which the stored is situated.
