Serena Hotels is the winner of the Best Hospitality, Travel and Tourism in Africa Award at the African Business Awards 2012 gala event held on 7 June 2012 at Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
Now in its fifth year, the African Business Awards is keenly followed by businesses on the continent. The Awards are organized by the African Business Magazine (ABM) and the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC). They have become a platform to recognise excellence and best practices in African business and award organisations that assist in rapidly transforming economies in Africa.
Serena Hotels was recognised for making an outstanding contribution to development on the continent, the economic aspirations of its citizens, the transformation of Africa’s image in international markets by branding the six destinations in which it operates as attractive tourism destinations and for providing the highest standards of service and product while operating in a sensitive manner towards monitoring the interests of the local population including their traditions, culture and future development.
Mahmud Janmohamed, MD of Serena Hotels, says that recognition for excellence is an honor in itself, and the sustainable integrated ethical approach to development of the Serena brand for over four decades with a current portfolio of 24 properties in six African countries is highly gratifying.
“As market leaders, receiving awards such as the ‘Best Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Company in Africa’ inspires the company as we believe that profitability and development are two notions that can serve each other. The company continues to work on supporting the growing tourism industry in Eastern Africa by seeking investment opportunities and validates its belief that with the changing nature of guest expectations it is the quality of service and product that will continue to determine the destination choices which clients’ make,” he says.
Serena Hotels’ properties include hotels, luxury camps, safari lodges and resorts located in Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Uganda, Rwanda and Mozambique, and 11 properties in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tajikistan. The Serena Hotels service profile promises luxury, extensive amenities, warmth and personal attention. The focus has been on product quality, high service standards and guest satisfaction and with this combination.
