This weekend (11 February) Southern Sun will bring the Book-A-Guesthouse enterprise development programme’s 63 members and various staff from across South Africa to Sandton, Johannesburg to attend the programme’s fifth annual conference at the Sandton Convention Centre.
Book-A-Guesthouse is Southern Sun’s national flagship enterprise development programme that provides business, marketing, sales, training and development support to women in the tourism industry in South Africa, to assist them to successfully operate their own guesthouses and B&Bs.
The conference delegates, owners of the programme’s independently owned and operated member guesthouses are gearing up to learn how to create great memories for their guests in the year ahead through this year’s conference experience, the theme of which is ‘creating great memories’.
The conference will kick-off with a tour of Soweto with Southern Sun, Joburg Tourism Company and other programme partners, and it will conclude with a five-star awards dinner at the Sandton Sun hotel on February 11, when the Guesthouse of the Year will be announced.
The programme draws on the support of tourism and corporate partners who all contribute towards the success of the member guesthouses. Over the past seven years the programme has grown to include more than 60 guesthouse and bed and breakfast establishments in four provinces in South Africa – Gauteng, Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape.
