Update on Shamwari rhino calf

November 14th, 2011 by H&R | Categories: tourism

The rhino calf that was brutally attacked last week by poachers and lost his mother in the process is currently at Shamwari Game Reserve in The Animal Rehabilitation Centre and is receiving the very best medical care and attention.

States Joe Cloete, group GM Shamwari Group: “He is responding well to treatment, his condition is stable and he has started to eat again. At this point we are concerned about some damage to his eyes yet the wound on his nose should heal over time and his injured hind leg is also improving.”

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who has emailed and left encouraging comments on our Facebook page and we will be sure to keep you updated as the days progress.”

Hope the little guy makes a full recovery, so distraught about the senseless killing of these magnificent animals. Keep up your good work.
