Showcasing whiskies from around the world, the FNB Whisky Live Festival is the largest, whisky and lifestyle event of its kind and attracts more visitors than any other whisky festival globally. Celebrating its 10th year, 2012 sees the FNB Whisky Live Festival launching a whole month earlier to accommodate a third leg to the show, Durban.
The Festivals offer an opportunity for amateur and professional whisky consumers to learn more about their favourite brands, the distilleries they come from, as well as try new brands in a convivial, interactive atmosphere in the company of fellow whisky fans.
Dates for the three series of festivals are as follows:
Cape Town International Convention Centre: 3-5 October 2012 from 18h00 – 22h00
Durban International Convention Centre: 1-2 November 2012 from 18h00 – 22h00
Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg: 7-9 November 2012from 18h00 – 22h00
Key attractions this year include The Tasting Hall with more than 180 whiskies available for sampling as well as educational and entertainment zones; various one-hour Whisky Workshops hosted by global master distillers in private rooms away from the crowds; the Whisky Lifestyle Lounge to entertain and network with friends and clients in luxury, while tasting unique whiskies not available to the masses; The Connoisseur’s Experience – The Ultimate Guided Whisky Tour, which includes chauffeur-driven trip to the festival, personalised guided tour of the festival, ‘connoisseurs-only tastings’ and deluxe dinner in the Whisky Lifestyle Lounge. There are only two tours per night with limited numbers so booking is essential; and finally the Picardi Rebel Onsite Retail Store, which if attendees purchase from before 11 November they will qualify for a discount.
There are a variety of ticket options, including packages and combo deals.
This year Whisky Live Festival has teamed up with Warwick Hospitality to offer some exceptional Whisky Experiences including pre and post whisky entertainment. For more information contact contact@whiskylivefestival.co.za for hospitality news.
Part of the proceeds from the various Festivals will continue to be donated to The Foundation of Alcohol Related Research.
The FNB Whisky Live Festival promotes responsible drinking. No persons under the age of 18 years old will be allowed into the Tasting Hall, and designated driver tickets are available. Discounted food vouchers and a bottle of Valpre mineral water are included in the ticket price, and taxis will be on hand to ensure that everyone is able to have a good time and get home safely.
Ticket sales open in August 2012. For more information visit www.whiskylivefestival.co.za or follow on Twitter @WhiskyLiveSA and Facebook.com/FNBWhiskyLiveFestival.
